چکیده

Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive method for monitoring a person's O2 saturation. In its most common (transmissive) application mode, a sensor device is placed on a thin part of the patient's body, usually a fingertip orearlobe, or in the case of an infant, across a foot. The device passes two wavelengths of light through the body part to a photodetector. It measures the changing absorbance at each of the wavelengths, allowing it to determine the absorbances due to the pulsing arterial bloodalone, excluding venous blood, skin, bone, muscle, fat, and (in most cases) nail polish. There are many portable oximeters are available in the market, but they are not so accurate. To make accurate oximeter we are using here ARM based microprocessor/ microcontroller. . in this paper we give the compression between the real time results of haemoglobin( from our designed pulse oximeter) and the results from pathologyof same patient. We find the our designed pulse oximeter gave 94.204 % accurate result.

A Three-Wavelength Pulse Oximeter for Carboxyhemoglobin Determination

Pulse oximetry measures the relative concentration of arterial oxygenated hemoglobin and reduced hemoglobin. This paper presents the design of a pulse oximeter, which measures the presence of a third substance, carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO), by unfiltered LEDs at 660 nm, 810 nm, and 940 nm. Background information is given on the theory of pulse oximetry. Theoretical approximations and calculations w...

Usefulness of Pulse Oximeter That Can Measure SpO2 to One Digit After Decimal Point.

Pulse oximeters are used to noninvasively measure oxygen saturation in arterial blood (SaO2). Although arterial oxygen saturation measured by pulse oximeter (SpO2) is usually indicated in 1% increments, the value of SaO2 from arterial blood gas analysis is not an integer. We have developed a new pulse oximeter that can measure SpO2 to one digit after the decimal point. The values of SpO2 from t...

Pulse oximeter plethysmographic waveform changes in awake, spontaneously breathing, hypovolemic volunteers.

BACKGROUND The primary objective of this study was to determine whether alterations in the pulse oximeter waveform characteristics would track progressive reductions in central blood volume. We also assessed whether changes in the pulse oximeter waveform provide an indication of blood loss in the hemorrhaging patient before changes in standard vital signs. METHODS Pulse oximeter data from fin...

آگاهی کارکنان درمانی بخش‌های ویژه نوزادان و کودکان درباره پالس‌اکسی‌متری

Background & Aim: Pulse Oximeter monitoring technology has become so common in intensive health care settings over the last decade that blood oxygen level is now considered as the fifth vital sign. However, it seems that medical and nursing staffs are not specially educated to operate with the devices. The aim of the study was to investigate the knowledge of medical assistants (residents), nurs...

Methemoglobinemia and Pulse Oximetry

In reviewing the article “Methemoglobinemia: Sudden Dyspnea and Oxygen Desaturation After Esophagoduodenoscopy,” in the August 2004 issue of RESPIRATORY CARE,1 I found the article suggested that, during the esophagoduodenoscopy procedure the patient’s blood oxygen saturation (measured via pulse oximetry) began to drop rapidly, and a saturation of 54% registered on the pulse oximeter while the p...
